Ad of the Week - 1970 R5 350 Yamaha

Long before the days of political correctness and carbon taxing - and even before power valves - the Yamaha R5 350 twin offered a 347cc air-cooled 2-stroke parallel twin that pushed out around 35 horsepower, albeit over a fairly limited -and high- rev range.

Although the R5 was a lot more user friendly than the first Yamaha twins that preceded it, the R5's short wheelbase - around 3" shorter than a GSXR600 - made for an entertaining ride. This I discovered first hand in the mid '70s, flipping and wrecking a customer's R5 that was in for servicing. Went well before that though.

This one advertised here on MCSales isn't that bike, - I ruined an orange one - according to the seller it has only had two owners from new, and is now in a fully restored condition:

"I Bought the bike back in 1970 and has only had 2 owners. Bought bike back last year and restored"

Looks great in the pictures, and appears to be well priced at 3500.

More details on the bike above can be found here: MCSales Motorcycles For Sale

The video below IS NOT the one for sale, merely the same colour/model. Gives you a better look at one though.
