The Superbike Supply Shootout for February 2008 was
held under threatening skies, and in high heat and humidity as Queenslands run
of extreme weather continues.
In spite of forecast rain, and reports of rain on
the day, over 60 bikes entered, and managed a good number of runs until a rain
shower caused some delay. Racing continued however into the night with the Test
and tune.
A group of riders from Brisbane Bikers initiated
the idea to run a 600cc Challenge, this was run towards the end of the Shootout.
Prizes were on offer for the Fastest 600, the Challenge winner, and also a
Brisbane Bikers prize.
The Challenge was won by Sean Oesser on his 675cc
Triumph Triple (eligible because one cylinder is missing) over Brisbane
Biker, Hamish Helms on his Movistar replica Honda 600.
Winner Sean also received an SBS award for
Nutcrusher of the Day.
Jared Waters won both the quickest 600, runing as
fast as 10.31 seconds, in the process becoming Australias fastest streetbike
600.
The surprise guest rider wasnt available on the
day, so Motoaus' own Rebecca Archer sat in on Cyanide Racings GSX-R600 for a few
guest runs. After testing the rev limiter a few times (standard procedure on
borrowed bikes) and a best of 10.58, she sat out the 600 Challenge to allow
Jared his brief moment in the sun.
Shayne Homes later extracted a 10.50 run on his screaming 600 to elevate himself off the bottom of the 600 Bragging Bored, that Jared Waters now sits atop.

Other prize recipients were Jason "Mr.T" Tysoe,
with a blinding .401 reaction time earning him the Superbike Supply prize pack,
and Les Lobegeter for the most amount of runs - a dizzying 12 laps in the
shortened Shootout.
Other highlights that are publishable were B/SB
racer Blair Penningtons 9.34 second run, with Dave Rundmans 9.40 pass on his
matching blue and white Suzuki 1000 jumping them both up the Bragging board.
Blairs run makes him the second fastest 1000 B/SB street bike in
Australia.
The full results from the shootout, in a bragging
board style should be created shortly, please check back to see how you stand.
The next Shootout will be on the 29th of March 2008.
