FZ6 Cup comes to Winton
Winton Motor Raceway will host rounds 2 and 3 of the nation’s newest and most
affordable road race category, the Yamaha FZ6 cup, this weekend.
The
grassroots racing class is designed to make road racing both accessible and
affordable to enthusiasts, along with providing them the opportunity to feature
on national free to air and pay television broadcasts.
The one make
field will compete in its first of two double header weekends in 2007, designed
to bring twice as much racing to the fans while keeping costs down for
competitors.

aboard their race ready 2007 FZ6N machines across 4 days. Riders will practice
on Thursday, qualify on Friday, and race for points in rounds 2 and 3 on

Yamaha
Motor Australia Motorsport Manager Cheryl Muldoon said it was encouraging to see
such a large dealer based team presence in the entry list, and thanked dealers
for their support of the new class.
“Yamaha supports riders of all
levels, from the pinnacle of the sport to our grassroots racers, and the FZ6 cup
is a fantastic way for those on a budget to show their skills,” said
Muldoon.
“It’s a very affordable solution and the bikes are close to
identical specifications, making the racing very close and exciting”
“As
an added incentive, the winner of this year’s series will get to keep their race
