Two Year TV Deal for Aussie Superbikes
Australian
Superbike Championship confirms 2-year International television
deal
DECEMBER 15, 2006
Australia’s two-wheel talent factory
will be showcased to the globe across the 2007-2008 Australian Superbike
Championship seasons, with details of an extensive television deal announced
today.
It is the first time in the history of the premier national
series that coverage will extend from a national to a diverse international
audience, with regions including New
Zealand, Asia and Europe
all set to receive the quality broadcast produced by AVE Pty Ltd.
The
television package will consist of 20 hours of in-depth racing coverage,
covering the Superbike and Supersport classes as well as
supports.
Brokered by the Australasian Superbike Company (AUSCO), the
announcement is a major coup for the national series, with coverage not only
providing a closer look at our star riders and classes but also extending the
sponsorship value and possibilities for teams and riders alike.
AUSCO
Director and Promoter of the YMF Loan Australian Superbike Championship, Terry
O’Neill said that in excess of 55 countries would now be able to witness the
tense Superbike battle that local racegoers enjoy.
“Australia has
long been recognised as a rich source of talent in the motorcycle racing field
so it is fitting that we are able to announce this deal which will showcase our
premier riders to a potential audience of many hundreds of millions,” said
O’Neill.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with AVE into the
2007 and 2008 seasons; this is the first time the Australian Superbike
Championship has had a multi-year deal in its history.”
“This deal will
provide certainty to our competitors, sponsors and all stakeholders so they can
now plan their involvement in the ASC series for more than just one
year.”
“AUSCO is pleased to be able to continue the association with SBS
and Fox Sports and extend our reach into other free-to-air and Pay TV channels
in other countries.”
“Each round will receive a dedicated two and half
hours coverage, with the new double header rounds at Queensland Raceway and
Winton to receive five hours.”
“We are also excited to announce support
for mobile phone television viewers, with selected networks offering fans the
chance to catch all the action, wherever they may be!”
